I've spent over 30+ years of my adult professional life pioneering on various cutting edges. During my first five years right out of college, I tried to make a living as a video artist in the early 70's with the original Sony reel-to-reel porta-pak while ski bumming in Aspen and working @ Grass Roots TV community television. Over the next fifteen years, I launched/started 3 media companies...TeleMedia International, a teleconferencing company in 1980, StarCom, a satellite telecommunications company in 1986 and The 3DO Company, a new consumer electronics platform (almost the VHS of interactive entertainment) in 1990.
Another five years in the mid-90's doing various business adventures with Peter Bergman from Firesign Theate including the first daily Internet comedy site and the parody software hit PYST™ while working with a Sydney NSW digital venture investment group. Two years as President of the awesome Interactive Media Festival and then three years as Executive Director of the New Media INVISION Festival, the largest digital media festival in North America.
During the past five years, I've been actively doing international business development, working along the Pacific Rim stimulating region-to-region collaboration between governments and with private sector companies in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, & China. Always exploring the early days in emerging industries, always building and pollinating diverse professional relationships, always pioneering new business models...and now blogging...a bit late but still early enough to learn from the real pioneers. What a revelation attending Banff's Blogsndogs conference. So now another edge, that's all about "geeking out" and for me, beginning to blog...so finally as the first half of the first decade of the 21st Century ends, a new life and identity on-line begins right here.
